Sculpture & Alibrije
with Erwin Sanchez
Local artist, Erwin Sanchez, teaches students sculpting using modeling clay and a wire frame to create animal sculptures. Students received a wire frame and began by bending the legs to make their animals unique. Next they put aluminum foil all over the animal’s body to add thickness. Then, students chose which colors they wanted to use and added the clay to the frame using the body color. They added details with the other colors. For example, some used white clay to create the animal’s eyes by rolling it in a ball and squishing it to make it flat. Later, they added more details by carving into the animal. Finally, students displayed their creations with their names for people to enjoy.
